Crohn’s Disease Remission

9 YEARS OF REMISSION!

Remission…

If you have been living with Crohn’s Disease which comes with so much pain and diarrhea right now you must be wondering when and if it ever goes away and I would love to tell you that it really does…

Living with an autoimmune disease is so difficult if nothing just knowing that your immune system which is there for your well being is mistakenly attacking your body…

Today to encourage you and also share my story I would love to tell you that I have been in remission for exactly 9 years!

If you are not familiar with this it is the term “Remission” it is a stage of Crohn’s when your disease is no longer active. This means that the inflammation stops causing painful damage to your bowel and colon because your immune system is back to working like it should.

9 YEARS OF REMISSION! I realized today that this is the LONGEST REMISSION I’ve ever been in!
⠀⠀
I spent so much of my life in pain. Never knowing when the pain would end.
⠀⠀
And when I finally got relief, I worried about when it would come back. Often it was so severe, I would end up in the hospital, again. For years I struggled without answers.

⠀⠀
Pain is one thing. But pain without an explanation, without a diagnosis, it can play devilish tricks on your psyche…

Crohn's Disease Remission

⠀⠀
Finally during my sophomore year of college I got my answer: Crohn’s disease. It’s an auto-immune disease. It’s treatable but NOT CURABLE
⠀⠀
And the worst part ~ NO ONE EVEN KNOWS WHAT CAUSES IT!!
⠀⠀
It’s why I’m so passionate about health & wellness. And also WHY I share my wellness journey with YOU to hopefully INSPIRE you to make POSITIVE CHANGES
⠀⠀
I’ve missed my #WellnessWednesdays ! Coming soon is my whole story, from childhood to now. My emergency surgery on Friday the 13th 1.5 months before my wedding spurred this current remission
⠀⠀
And now the focus is all REMISSION!! To anyone currently experiencing flares ~ you too can do it!! I’m here to help you and share what I did
⠀⠀
Tag friends in comments who have autoimmune diseases so we can start a community talking, advancing the cause and supporting each other ❤️🥰
