Are You A Mom Looking To Work From Home? As a mom of two who works from home I know that working from home is such a great option especially for moms who are looking to sit back and take care of their kids. You get to bring in extra income and if you really focus on it with determination and planning you can also build your own business online and earn a full time income from it. But having kids around also means that if you are not very intentional with your strategies you may end up not getting any work done. I am a mom of two (Harper and Grayson) and I can tell you from experience that when they get off school they require a lot of my attention which means I concentrate less on work and more on my kids unless I hire a sitter to watch them after school, which if your family is currently on a tight budget this may not be a great option for you. Today I would love to help you make things better, concentrate and get more work done even if you only spend 2-3 hours on your work from home job or business. To do this I have put together some great tips that would help you rock your work from home job or business even when you have kids around. Plan Ahead: Planning your day in advance is super important and you would be really surprised the difference this makes when applied consistently. Use a digital planner or a note pad either way the major goal is to make sure that you go through the tasks, activities and chores that needs to be done the next day the night before. I once watched a video of an online entrepreneur say that if it doesn’t go into her planner then it doesn’t get done and this is the level of consistency I am talking about, so take a few minutes this evening before bed and plan out what you will be doing tomorrow and specific times required to get to it including how long each activity should take. Stick to the Plan: I repeat stick to the plan! This can go south if you allow yourself get carried away or sidetracked while working on something or running an errand. Planning is one thing but sticking to the plan you made is another, it’s very easy to get on a call or run out to pick groceries and get carried away when you run into a friend or even get on social media and forget how many hours you have been on it thereby cutting into time you already mapped out for the next task. Always Get Dressed for Work: As a work from home mom it’s very easy to forget that you actually have a real job, avoid wearing your pajamas and try to dress for work. This doesn’t mean that you need to wear a suit or heels but the mind is really tricky and a lot of moms who work from home have reported to have been able to do more work when they actually shower and throw on a clean and nice shirt with a jean. This helps get you mentally prepared for work and it send a subconscious message to your brain that it’s time to work. Create A Dedicated Work Space: This doesn’t have to be an entire room in your home and I understand that this may not be possible for every mom depending on your living situation but if it’s possible create a space that is dedicate for work, it could be a desk in the corner of a room or even a cushion no matter how small your space is the major goal of this is to get you in to the work mode whenever you get on your desk. It’s easier to get more organized and more productive if you have a work space. Work in Batch: This is one of my favorite tips as it is super helpful for moms like me who work from home. When planning your work try to map out tasks that can be carried out in batches together, let’s say for instance “scheduling: If you would need to schedule for 7 days in one day try scheduling for 21 Days instead that way you will not have to come back to scheduling in a few days again. This helps create a better, faster and easier work flow for you. Create A Routine For Your Kids: Creating a routine for your children will not only help achieve more but it will also be a great way to teach your kids how to set goals and achieve them. A routine helps kids stay organized… for the most part of the day especially if you are consistent with it. Try creating a visible calendar that can be placed in a strategic position in your home where the whole family can see it. Get Rid Of The Notifications: This is a big one especially if you have a very active and engaged social media presence, make sure to turn off notifications and turn your smart phone screen upside down when it’s time for work to avoid distractions that can come from an email or a text you may want to respond to. Set Your Pace And Remember Why You Work From Home: With everything that is going on you may constantly forget to actually pace yourself which for most moms is the main reason why they work from home. Work according to a pace that is comfortable for you and your family, make sure that you do not fall into the trap of overworking yourself and not getting enough rest or spending enough time with your kids, always refer back to your priority list every now and then.
