If you suffer with dry hair, you are not alone. I’ve suffered with dry, brittle hair since I was a kid. I get a lot of questions about my hair routine, so I’ve developed a great hair care routine that I find best to moisturize my hair using rose water and a deep conditioner from the Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water. It’s an important part of my self-care routine and of course everything I use is sulfate- and paraben-free.
As a little kid, I never knew why my hair would get so dry. I always loved to swim and take baths, basically I was a little fish! Spending a lot of time in water can be very dehydrating for your skin and hair.
My mom started doing my hair care routine differently, and I carry these tips with me to this day! After I was done putting my head under the water, my mom would shampoo my hair, and make sure to get all of the shampoo out of my hair.
Then, she would apply a lot of conditioner, making sure that it was well absorbed. After that, my head was not allowed to touch the water until it was time to rinse the conditioner out. I would generally sit with the conditioner in my hair for at least 10 minutes.
Now that I’m an adult, I do a lot of things to my hair that dry my it out even more, like color and heat style it. I always use a heat protectant, but heat styling and coloring it damages the shaft of the hair. So now a good hair care routine is even more important for me!
Once a week, I find at least an hour to take a bath (I’m one of those people who can stay in the bath for hours!), and I deep condition my hair in the bath. I love to add a bubble bar or bath bomb, and I set up everything I need on the side of my bathtub.
I set up my Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water Shampoo, Conditioner and Petal Soft HairTreatment, a wet brush, a hair tie, a towel, a drink, my phone for music and a book on the side of my tub and sometimes also in a bath caddy.
After climbing in the bath, I wet my hair. Then, I apply a generous portion of the Pantene Miracle Moisture Boost Shampoo with Rose Water. The Rose Water shampoo is great to use on wash days because it provides gentle cleansing to leave dry hair feeling soft and not stripped.
On typical wash days I use the Rose Water Conditioner, but on spa days I use the Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Petal Soft Hair Treatment with Rose Water. It’s so hydrating and moisturizing! I like to brush the product into my hair using a wet brush, but I know some people have to be really careful about brushing wet hair. You can also use a comb!
Then, I place my hair up in a hair tie. My hair never touches the bathwater. I let it sit for as long as possible, at least 30 minutes. I have music playing and read a book, play games on my phone or sometimes even call my besties. We all call each other while taking baths!
The steam from the hot water helps the Rose Water Treatment penetrate deeper into the hair shaft. When I am at a spa I often apply it before going into a steam room for this same reason! I often do a face mask at the same time.
When it’s time to rinse my hair of the Petal Soft Hair Treatment, I use fresh water from the tap.
It’s a wonderful self-care routine that I find relaxing and soothing for my whole body. I often do this the night before shoots so that my hair is extra supple, moisturized and shiny. It also helps tame frizz and soothes dry, brittle hair.
During winter, you can use it more often if you live in a colder climate and your hair tends to get dryer.
Rose water is beloved all around the world. In my travels to over 50 countries, I’ve experienced rose water treatments and products in the Middle East, Europe and Northern Africa. It smells absolutely incredible and is super moisturizing.
It’s super nutrient rich as well and I use it on my kid’s hair as well.
The Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water by Pantene contains no sulfates or parabens. It also has no dyes or mineral oils, all of which are really important to me since I have color-treated hair.
I also recommend drinking a lot of water to increase the moisture in your hair. I have a water container near me at all times, especially at night!
I love collagen as it is the building block of hair (and skin and nails, too!). I add it to my daily smoothie, and some days to my coffee as well.
Be careful when you are in water. Try to put your hair up in a top knot or ponytail to avoid the dehydrating effects of the pool, jacuzzi and other water.
Check out this incredible hair care collection in store and online at Target, and I hope you develop your own hair care routine with lots of self-care love! I think you’re going to love it just as much as I do!
